Our adoption fees help reimburse the costs of vetting and care of that dog to ensure we can help the next dog.

However, we often spend phenomenally more on veterinary treatment (intakes with major illnesses, testing lumps for cancer - and of course treatment if so, other needed diagnostics/testing and many other situations can easily run veterinary bills to thousands of dollars). We would not ask or expect to receive anywhere near what was personally spent on those dogs (who deserve to live just as much as any other!), so occasionally a small part of adoption fees also help us chip away at large veterinary debts accrued passionately fighting for another dog in rescue.

The following is an idea of the basic costs associated with getting each dog adoption ready.
*We use a handful of local (and less local) veterinary offices depending on service and appointment availability, so prices may differ depending on vet providing service.

Our Veterinary Cost Ranges

  • Fecal test [between 1-3 required]: $100

  • Spay/Neuter: $135-260

  • Veterinary Wellness Exam: $50-90

  • (DAPP/Bordetella) Vaccines: $10/shot [$20-100]

  • Microchip: $10

  • All dogs taken in are also treated with DEWORMER, and at least 1 round of PANACUR, & METRONIDAZOLE (deworming/giardia treatment) on intake while waiting on fecal result, most of which is purchased in bulk and difficult to itemize cost per individual dog. :)
