BODIE
MALE | WOOLLY HUSKY | EST 4 YEARS OLD
Bodie is a fun and flashy young Husky boy, with a luxurious, regal coat and tail, and brilliantly colored bi-eyes (with a crack of piercing blue in his one brown eye, and a slight cross-eye look to add a little humor to his handsome!) This stunning boy is POPPING with personality, and is SUCH a good Husky! He has great leash manners, and has a happy flair to everything he does! He enjoys public outings with his people, and travels very well in a car.
He is pretty quiet overall, except for sad songs he may sing at times if kenneled away from the people he loves. Speaking of loving people, he does! He will happily pounce towards you for pets and snuggles, and loves bouncing around and doing spins if you initiate play :) He is also not shy about letting you know he was enjoying being pet, and would like some more love. This handsome love has truly stolen the hearts of everyone at the rescue.
Bodie was rescued the day before he was set to be euthanized at a Southern California shelter (where Huskies, even great ones, are a dime a dozen and are euthanized in quantity). His crime was being rude stealing food from a toddler when left unattended in another room with the child, within his first week of being adopted into the family. Bodie did show some food possession/reactivity when he first entered our rescue, but we have worked quite a bit with him, and he has learned with us that someone touching or interacting with his food actually means he will get a HIGHER value reward than his food, and he has become pretty agreeable to it.
He has attended a handful of group obedience classes through Diamond Dogs Training (and local adopters receive 8 weeks of group training with Bodie as well!), and did well meeting the other dogs - who were all mostly medium to large breed - so he should do well with other similarly sized dogs with proper introduction. He was relinquished to the family with the child after chasing a cat, so in consideration of this as well as his breed, we would consider him best in a home without cats, and may need to see how he does with small dogs.
